A talk to yourself app, for thinking out loud at night
Plenty of people talk to themselves: in the car, in the shower, lying awake going over the day. A talk to yourself app gives that a place to land.
It’s often how a tangled thought gets sorted out: you say it, you hear how it sounds, you say it a little differently. Diary BFF is made for that: a private chat with yourself.
Say it, or write it
Open the app and you’re on tonight’s page. Type, or hold to record and your words turn into text. Either way it lands on the same page, so you can read back what you said instead of losing it the moment you stop talking.
That’s the difference from talking into the dark. On the page you can see where you went in circles, and where you finally said the thing.
The other side of the conversation, when you want one
Most nights, talking to yourself is enough. Your diary BFF stays quiet until you ask.
When you do want an answer, ask for a reply. Your diary BFF answers in a few sentences, with at most one question, and you can keep talking right under it. It doesn’t repeat back what you just said, and it doesn’t hand you advice unless you ask for it.
The replies aren’t written by a person. Your diary BFF is an AI that lives in your diary.
Your diary BFF remembers what you wrote, with the date. So when something comes up again, a reply can point back to the night you first wrote about it.
Just you and the page
Talking to yourself only works if it’s private.
- It has its own PIN, separate from your phone’s passcode, with no Face ID shortcut. Someone holding your unlocked phone still can’t open it.
- Your entries are not used to train AI.
- There’s no feed, and no sign-up before you start.
Who it’s for
- People who think better out loud, and want to keep what they said.
- People who replay conversations at night and want to get them out of their head.
- Anyone who’d rather talk it through with themselves first.
