A chat journal app that’s a private chat with yourself
Most chat apps are for talking to other people. A chat journal app is for the other kind of conversation: the one you have with yourself at night, when the day is finally quiet enough to think.
Diary BFF is that kind of app. It’s a private chat with yourself.
A diary first, with a chat inside it
You open the app and you’re on tonight’s page. Write what’s in your head. It stays on the page, and your diary BFF stays quiet until you ask.
When you want to talk it through, you ask for a reply. Your diary BFF answers in a few sentences, with at most one question, and you can keep writing right under it. Your words and the replies sit together on the same page, so the night reads like one conversation, not a pile of separate messages.
If you’d rather talk than type, hold to record and it turns into text.
Who you’re chatting with
The replies aren’t written by a person. Your diary BFF is an AI that lives in your diary. It doesn’t give advice unless you ask for it, and it doesn’t repeat back what you just said.
Your diary BFF remembers what you wrote, with the date. So when something comes up again, a reply can point back to the night you first wrote about it.
What makes it different from a chatbot
- It’s yours, not a general assistant. It works from what you’ve written in your diary.
- It speaks when you ask. Your diary BFF stays quiet until you ask for a reply. Skip a night, and it won’t bring it up.
- It writes you a letter on Sundays about your week: what kept coming up, and what changed.
Private by design
- It has its own PIN, separate from your phone’s passcode, with no Face ID shortcut. Someone holding your unlocked phone still can’t open it.
- Your entries are not used to train AI.
- Nothing is shared with other users. There’s no feed, and no sign-up before you start.
Who it’s for
- People who think better out loud, but don’t want to send a long message to a friend at midnight.
- People who tried a regular journal and missed having something answer.
- Anyone who wants a chat where the only other voice is their own diary.
