That address is the only support channel, and it is read by a person, not a bot. Please say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on — it usually saves a round trip.

Common questions

Is writing really free?

Yes. Typing, voice, photos, the passcode lock, and export never cost anything, and they stay that way. What a subscription buys is more replies from your companion and the full Sunday letter.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. Open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, pick Diary BFF, and cancel there. Cancelling more than 24 hours before the renewal date means you are not charged for the next period.

Deleting your account inside the app does not cancel the subscription — you have to do that in iOS Settings as well.

How do I get my writing out?

Settings → Export & Import. You get one file with everything in it — entries, replies, and your attachments — and you can put a password on it if you want it encrypted. You can do this on the free plan, as often as you like.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete account. That removes your entries, replies, attachments, and the account itself. It cannot be undone, so export first if you want a copy.

I forgot my passcode.

The passcode is stored only on your phone and we have no way to recover it or reset it for you — that is the point of it. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears the local lock, but anything not yet synced is lost with it. Write to us before you do that and we will talk it through.

Does my writing go to an AI company?

Only when you ask for a reply, and only after you have said yes on a screen that explains it. The full detail — who receives what, and what they are allowed to do with it — is in the privacy policy.

Can I turn the companion off completely?

Yes. Say no on the consent screen, or turn it off later in Settings. The journal works normally without it.

Can I change my companion’s name?

Yes, in Settings. The name is yours to pick; the app never decides it for you.
